A Yellowstone worker died early Friday after falling from Grand View Point above the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River.

The National Park service identified the worker as Estefania Liset Mosquera Alcivar, 21, of Quito, Ecuador. She was socializing with co-workers near a trail at the rim of the canyon when she fell over the edge around 3:15 a.m., NPS said in a statement.

Companions of the Yellowstone National Park concession employee witnessed her fall and called 911. A helicopter search and rescue crew found her body around 10 a.m., NBC News reported. Officials determined that the fall was not survivable.

The incident is the latest in a string of tragic events at the park this summer, the Casper Star Tribune reported.

In June, an Oregon man stepped off a board walk at Norris Geyser Basin and fell into a hot spring. A 13-year-old boy was burned earlier at another hot spring. A bison calf had to be euthanized when it couldn't be reunited with its herd after a tourist loaded it into his vehicle thinking it was cold.

The park is also the site of three major wildfires that have forced park officials to close the south entrance, Reuters reported.

Alcivar's fall into the 800- to 1,200-foot canyon is under investigation.

The National Park Service participates in foreign worker programs to fill seasonal employment gaps, NBC said.
