William Shatner hinted at a return to the Enterprise in “Star Trek 3,” fanning the flames of excitement in the Trekkie world.

In a fan-made video from the Wizard-World Nashville ComicCon on Friday, Shatner, 83, mentioned that JJ Abrams had contacted him about the possibility of creating a part in the upcoming "Star Trek" movie.

"I said, 'Oh, yeah. If it is meaningful, because when Leonard (Nimoy), when Spock was in that first movie, I said to Leonard, 'You know your role, when you go back in time and you're still old,'" Shatner said, as seen in a fan-made YouTube video. “So it depends on what you do with the character. I’d be delighted.”

The Daily Mail said Shatner was “sworn to secrecy” about any possibilities he’ll appear in the movie, but fans are speculating and most are excited.

But as recently as Sept. 23, Shatner was still iffy about what might happen. He tweeted:

Shatner certainly isn’t sitting around on his duff, counting the days until he’s once more star-borne in his iconic Captain Kirk role. Even as the Internet lit up at his confirmation that he was in talks about “Star Trek 3,” Variety announced that he will add hosting a cooking program to his skill set. He’s already on the “Brown Bag Wine Tasting” series, and now he’ll talk with chefs for Ora.TV.

"They might want Leonard and myself but I don't know what to do with it," E! Online quoted Shatner to his fans. "How do you get me 50 years later into the movie? How do you rationalize it? I know it's science fiction, but even I couldn't come up with an idea. So that's the news on that."
