Whoopi Goldberg vs. Rosie on Who Gets to Moderate 'The View'

Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell are already bumping heads before they return to the next round of ABC's "The View," according to RadarOnline.com, as the two square off over who will be the show's moderator.

A source close to the show told RadarOnline.com that Goldberg, who has been the moderator since O'Donnell's departure, has no intention of giving up the coveted seat while O'Donnell, who served as moderator in 2007 during the year she was on the show, wants the role again.

"Rosie wants it back from Whoopi," the source told the celebrity website. "It doesn't matter to Rosie that Whoopi has sat there for the last several years. Rosie doesn't want to be sitting anywhere but back in her old spot. In Rosie's mind, this is once again her show."

"Whoopi won't be giving it up, and Rosie even suggested they trade seats every other week. It's all a power trip for Rosie, which is resulting in tension on the staff," said the source.

TMZ reported earlier this month that Goldberg's frustration was turned on producer and recently retired co-host Barbara Walters earlier this month while testing new co-hosts.

Production sources reported that Goldberg fumed when Walters jumped into a debate between CNN's S.E. Cupp, O'Donnell and her involving an Australian couple who asked a surrogate to abort a Down syndrome baby.

Sources said that Goldberg complained that she's been "working with a cranky 85-year-old woman who's mad about everything for two years and I need a break."

The National Enquirer reported that Goldberg, 58, is now having regrets about signing on to "The View" for another four years and believes it is no longer the attractive gig it once was for her.

"Whoopi regrets roping herself in like that and is trying to figure a way out," a source close to the Oscar-winning actress said. "She wants out to do other projects, and feels network honchos are holding her back. Whoopi is sick of all the drama surrounding 'The View.'"

The drama, though, has certainly kept "The View" in the headlines, with the highly anticipated return of O'Donnell, whose volatile first run on the view is still remembered by many.
