Whoopi Goldberg Flips on Bill Cosby, Says Signs Point to Guilt

By    |   Wednesday, 15 Jul 2015 06:09 AM

Whoopi Goldberg has previously defended comedian Bill Cosby against sexual assault allegations while hosting "The View," but she changed her mind and flipped on him during a Tuesday segment of the daytime talk show.

In a conversation with ABC's legal affairs chief Dan Abrams, who explained to her how many of the women had no recourse on the charges because the statute of limitations had run out on their claims, Goldberg appeared to reverse her opinion of Cosby, according to Us Weekly.

Either Goldberg hasn't been paying attention to the case or the "The View" segment was cast as her opportunity to wiggle out of an untenable position. She has conceded she's come under pressure lately for defending Cosby.

"What we've learned here is there's no recourse for these women except what they're doing," said Goldberg. "If this is to be tried in the court of public opinion, I gotta say, all of the information that's out there kinda points to guilt.

"If people don't know that there's no way for him to go to jail at this point … you got a serial rapist, he's been on the street for 30 years," said Goldberg. "I have to say, I thought that, 'Yeah, here's all the information, take his a** to jail.' I find out from you that that's not possible, so I can't say anymore, 'innocent until proven guilty.' Can't say that anymore."

Up until Tuesday, Goldberg had refused to condemn Cosby after The Associated Press obtained his unsealed disposition from a 2005 civil case in which the entertainer admitted that he intended to give drugs to young women with whom he wanted to have sex with, noted the Washington Post.

"I say this because this is my opinion, and in America still, I know it's a shock, but you actually were innocent until proven guilty," Goldberg earlier said on "The View."
