Twitter Firing: Jet's Pizza Axes Girl Who Tweeted Before Even Starting

A Texas teen was fired via Twitter from her job at Jet's Pizza before she even started because of a tweet she made disparaging the job.

Twitter user @cellla_ posted an expletive-laden tweet about starting her new job at the pizzeria along with seven thumbs-down emoticons.

Her boss, @Robertwaple, replied on Twitter, in a post that has since been deleted: “No you don't start that ... job today! I just fired you! Good luck with your no money, no job life!”

The Twitter exchange has drawn widespread attention online, with @cellla_ drawing more than 5,700 Twitter followers as of Wednesday afternoon. Many of her new followers have posted from throughout the world telling her she is famous.

The Daily Mail, which posted screen grabs of the Twitter exchange, said Robert Waple’s response was retweeted 3,800 times and favorited more than 4,200 times.

Some Twitter users who appear to be former employees of Jet's Pizza in Mansfield, Texas, posted supportive comments to @cellla_, with one, whose Twitter account has since been deleted, saying working there was “literally the worst job I’ve ever had,” The Daily Mail said.

A spokeswoman for Jet's Pizza's corporate office said the Mansfield store is independently owned and operated, and the franchisor doesn’t dictate hiring practices, Fox News said.

"Nevertheless, Jet’s regrets to see the manner in which this situation has been handled by the parties involved," the spokeswoman said in a statement.

Twitter users seemed to view the story as a cautionary tale.
