Tracy Morgan’s appearance at a New York Yankees game on Tuesday drew applause from the crowd, celebrating one of the comedian’s few public appearances since he was critically injured in a car accident in 2014.

Morgan attended the game with his fiancé, Megan Wollover, and their daughter Maven, 2, People magazine said. The scoreboard flashed a picture of Morgan and the crowd cheered and applauded.

The June 2014 crash occurred when a WalMart tractor-trailer crashed into a limousine carrying Morgan and his friend, comedian James McNair, who was killed. WalMart and Morgan settled a lawsuit out of court, and WalMart accepted responsibility for the accident, The Wrap reported.

Morgan began to make moves back into the public spotlight in early June, tweeting:

And then soon after, he spoke publicly for the first time since the accident to The Today Show about his severe injuries and the death of McNair.

“Oh, it’s been up and down. I have my family. I have my wife, Megan, we’re about to be married, and my daughter and my son, so they keep my spirits up,” Morgan said of the year in recovery from his injuries. He walked slowly and with a cane into the Today studio.

“The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there for Jimmy Mac. He was a close friend of mine, he was a loving man, and he was a warm man. He was a good man,” Morgan told Today’s Matt Lauer, breaking into tears as he spoke about his friend.

But on Tuesday, Morgan was all smiles at the Yankees game, waving and acknowledging the crowd’s cheers, People said.

Born in the Bronx, Morgan has always shown his love for the Yankees and often can be seen in Yankees apparel.
