"Toy Story 4" will be in theaters in June 2017, Walt Disney Co. leader Bob Iger announced Thursday, and it will be directed by John Lasseter, who was responsible for the original “Toy Story.”

The fourth movie in the “Toy Story” franchise is likely to be a big hit for the company: “Toy Story 3” raked in almost $1.1 billion worldwide at the box office when it was released in 2010.

Lasseter, chief creative officer at Pixar, has also directed “Cars” and “Cars 2,” and he’s been tapped for the third “Cars” movie, as well.

The news that there’s a release date and a director for “Toy Story 4” was greeted online with some concern, particularly from diehard fans who loved the first three movies.

“Whilst we're slightly concerned that a fourth movie might not quite live up to the, frankly perfect first three instalments, new TOY STORY is brilliant news. The campaign to bring back Emperor Zurg starts here!” wrote Starburst magazine.

In the business end of his announcements, Iger said that Walt Disney Co.’s 2014 fiscal year results were “the highest in the company’s history,” making it the fourth consecutive year of record performance.
