Fox’s highly successful animated series, "The Simpsons" will soon be seen in China for the first time in what The Wrap calls a "landmark deal."

"'The Simpsons' is a unique television property, which has the ability to transcend worldwide cultural boundaries and has the capability to easily translate into any language,” said Mark Kaner, president of 20th Century Fox Television Distribution. "We are excited to expand our existing and longstanding partnership with Sohu to allow audiences in China to watch one of the greatest TV shows ever made."

The terms of the multi-year deal weren’t made public, but when the show begins airing in China soon, it will have Mandarin subtitles, The Wrap said.

The series, which began airing in 1989, is the longest-running scripted television show in history and begins its 26th season on Fox on Sept. 28.

“This deal once again demonstrated our commitment in bringing the best experience to our users and tireless efforts to enhance our competitive edges in the industry,” said Dr. Charles Zhang, Chairman and CEO of Sohu, a Chinese media, search, gaming, community, and mobile service group.

The FXX network recently aired a 12-day "Simpsons" marathon of all 552 episodes, which raised the ratings of the edgy yet “fledgling” cable network, The New York Times said. FXX executives saw a ratings triple over what they had expected.

"To say the advertisers are euphoric about these results would be the understatement of my lifetime," Lou La Torre, president of sales at FXX, told the Times.

FXX reportedly expects to earn more money from airing reruns and future “Simpsons” episodes. In addition, the Times reports that “Simpsons World,” a state-of-the-art app, will allow for the viewing of any episode, selected clips, and original scripts, among other features.
