Texas Cop Pulls Gun on Teens During Pool Party Chaos

A Texas cop has been suspended after pulling out his gun Friday and pointing it at teenagers during a chaotic confrontation at a community pool party.

A nearly seven-minute video on YouTube shows police officers trying to gain control of the crowd of adolescents at McKinney's Craig Ranch North Community Pool, according to CNN.

One of the officers is seen throwing 14-year-old Dajerria Becton to the ground, shoving her head down, The Dallas Morning News reported.

As two teenage boys approach, the officer then discharges his firearm and chases them away. He then returns to the girl, grabs her arm, and holsters the gun.

The Dallas Morning News reported that Cpl. Eric Casebolt was placed on administrative leave after the video, which raked in more than 4 million views by Monday, surfaced.

The McKinney Police Department posted a statement to Facebook saying the video “raised concerns” and an investigation has been opened.

Police were reportedly called to the scene after receiving reports that teens who "do not live in the area" were jumping the gate to get into the pool party and then were "refusing to leave," according to the Facebook statement.

Other callers said the teens were fighting and, when police arrived, they would not obey, McKinney authorities told CNN.

Chief Greg Conley said the 14-year-old girl in the video was detained and released to her parents while an adult male was arrested and charged with evading arrest and interference with the duties of a police officer.

Twelve officers responded to the event, Conley reported, but the chief did not “have any data” on the cop in question, according to the Morning News.

“I am disturbed and concerned by the incident and actions depicted in the video,” McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller said in a written statement. “Our expectation as a City Council is that our police department and other departments will act professionally and with appropriate restraint relative to the situation they are faced with.”

The incident is now sparking accusation of racism, as most of the officers who were involved are white and a majority of the teens are African American.
