Survivor Winner Natalie Anderson Played the Game Well: Host Jeff Probst

Natalie Anderson was named the winner of CBS' "Survivor: San Juan del Sur — Blood vs. Water" season on Wednesday, edging out the other top two contestants.

Anderson, a 28-year-old one-time "Amazing Race" competitor who appeared on the 29th season of "Survivor" with her twin sister Nadiyah, received enough votes to beat out Missy and Jaclyn for the title and prize money.

"It feels amazing for all the hard work to come together," Anderson said in a CBS News interview. "Yeah, the money's awesome but just I feel so proud about what I did and making it all worth it is awesome."

Anderson took half of the eight jury votes, telling the panel before they cast their ballots that she believes she outwitted, outplayed, and outlasted the competition's top players, according to CBS News. She said losing her twin sister early on in the game actually allowed her to play more determined and make bolder moves.

"Survivor" host Jeff Probst told Entertainment Weekly that he was surprised by how strategically Anderson played the game and said he believed that allowed her stay on top.

"Generally speaking I thought she was a pretty shrewd player," Probst said. "Much more strategic than I would have first guessed. I also liked the 'big swings' she was willing to take and her very clear approach of who to play against each other. Natalie can play. She's for real. I think the best player won."

Probst said, though, that he does not think "Survivor: San Juan del Sur — Blood vs. Water" will go down as one of the franchise's best seasons but thinks everyone rose to the level of their skills.

"I was happy with how it ended," he said. "Natalie deserved to win and once again I was pleased with the decision of the jury to reward the best player. I don't think this is one of our very best seasons."

"I do think next season will be better, in fact I guarantee it," he continued. "But I was proud of how this group played to the best of their abilities. It's not Keith's fault he didn’t know the game. We are the ones who put him on. So now that it's over, I have a very fond spot for this group and I hope they had the adventure of a lifetime."
