A new trailer for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" was released Friday, offering a glimpse of the film set to be released Dec. 15.

The movie picks up the saga where "The Force Awakens" left off, following Rey, Finn, and BB-8 in their fight against Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke, Variety reported.

In the clip, Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, is depicted training Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, and declaring, "I only know one truth: It’s time for the Jedi to end."

Fans won't see the late Carrie Fisher in the trailer, but it appears to give a glimpse of the back of her head, Variety noted. Fisher, who plays General Leia in the film, died Dec. 27 at age 60 after filming her scenes for the movie.

The teaser premiered at the Star Wars Celebration fan convention in Orlando and then was posted online, Rolling Stone reported. The even marks the 40th anniversary of the franchise.

The film is still in the post-production and editing, director Rian Johnson told fans at the Celebration, where a flim poster also was revealed, according to Rolling Stone.

The teaser sparked enthusiastic responses from fans on Twitter.
