A massive, hurricane-strength windstorm dubbed St Jude continued to pummel Britain Monday, leaving two people dead and an estimated 140,000 homes without electricity in what meteorologists are calling the most severe storm in the last decade.

Named after the patron saint of lost causes whose feast day is Monday, the St Jude storm made its way across the U.K. Sunday leaving downed power lines, fallen trees, and debris in its wake.

As of Monday morning in the southeast, about 100 trees had fallen on commuter railways, forcing the cancellation of hundreds of rush-hour trains, The Telegraph reported

The storm has also reportedly claimed two lives, according to the Huffington Post UK. A 17-year-old girl was killed when a tree fell onto her home in Kent, England, and a man in his 50s died after a tree fell on his car in Watford.

London Mayor Boris Johnson will head an emergency resilience meeting mid-day Monday to assess and deal with St Jude's damage, according to Agence France-Presse.
