A shark killed a scuba diver near Perth on Sunday, the second fatal shark attack in Australia in a week.

Doreen Collyer, 60, was killed just before noon local time Sunday while diving off the northern suburbs of Perth, reported The Australian. The attack happened two meters from shore.

Last Tuesday, surfer Ben Gerring, 29, was attacked at Gearies break at Falcon Beach by a shark which tore off one of his legs, reported the Daily Mail. He died Friday at the Royal Perth Hospital.

Collyer's diving partner, a 43-year-old man, told authorities that he "felt something go past him" and when he returned to the surface saw the shark mauling Collyer, said The Australian. Boaters in the area were able to pull Collyer and the man out of the water.

"Her injuries were apparent and severe," said Police Inspector Danny Mulligan. "It was fairly obvious that she had passed away."

Collyer's death was the 15th fatal shark attack in Western Australia since 2000, said The Australian.

Collyer worked at Edith Cowan University in Perth and had lived in Australia for five years, said The Australia and Perth Now.

Gerring's death was the first shark fatality in Western Australia since December, 2014, said the Daily Mail.

"Mr. Gerring was described as a keen big wave surfer who had paddled out further and screamed for help before being dragged under the water." The Daily Mail reported. "(Brian) Williams, was preparing to go for a surf when he noticed a commotion with about 15 surfers rushing back to shore and 'all hell broke loose' as a couple of men came out with Mr. Gerring propped up on a board."
