Sarah Mariuz and Leah Rodgers, identical twins living in two different states, gave birth to their first-born children at the exact same time last week, according to People magazine.

Rodgers, living in Denver, gave birth to a boy at 1:18 a.m., Mountain time, while Mariuz, who lives in La Jolla, California, gave birth to a girl at 1:18 a.m. Pacific time, on June 30.

"It's that magical twin connection I suppose," Mariuz, who named her daughter Samantha Lynne, told People. "There have just been certain things in our life where things just match up – it's odd."

The births were the continuation of surprises for the twins, both 35, who told each other last Thanksgiving about their pregnancies.

"We've always lived in separate places, but all of us — we have two sisters — are very close in age and very close," Rodgers, who named her son Reid Joseph, told the "Today" show. "But certainly there's another connection at the twin level."

Rodgers told People that her family started a group text when the women went into labor, leading to them learning about the exact birth times.

"When my sister's husband got the text about Reid being born at 1:18 a.m. he apparently shouted at the doctors, he couldn't believe it!" Rodgers told People. "It was literally the exact same time."

The Thanksgiving family gathering where they both came clean about their pregnancies could have been scripted for a Hollywood movie, with Mariuz traveling to Denver to meet her sister.

"She showed up to my front door and I welcomed her and Nick [Mariuz's husband] inside," Rodgers, an education strategist for Dell, told the "Today" show. "And I had this crazy twin intuition — I call it my 'twintuition' — and I knew she was pregnant, too."

Mariuz, is older than her sister by 11 minutes, let Rodgers tell her pregnancy story before springing the her own news, noted "Today."

"I wanted Leah to have her moment of sharing her news, rather than me just saying, 'Me too!'" Mariuz told "Today" she before sharing her own news.

"I ran down the hallway and got the ultrasound pic out of my purse and slapped it down next to Leah's," Mariuz, who works in medical sales, told "Today." "We were jumping up and down, just so happy for each other. Everyone was just in shock."
