Sandra Bullock Comes to Rescue of Fainting Extra on Movie Set

By    |   Thursday, 30 Oct 2014 07:37 AM

It was Sandra Bullock to the rescue as she helped an extra who fainted on the set during the shooting of her latest movie "Our Brand Is Crisis." The Academy Award-winning actress gave the woman water and comforted her until emergency personnel arrived.

According to TMZ, the incident happened on Sunday. Bullock stepped forward when it appeared that the extra had suffered from heat stroke in New Orleans, helping keep her cool until an ambulance arrived – something one wouldn't expect from an A-lister.

"Billy Bob Thornton was also there, but mostly watching," TMZ reported. "Obviously, women seem to handle emergencies better. As for why the woman collapsed, the movie calls for them to wear warm clothes and The Big Easy and heavy coats don't go well together right now. The heat's been unbearable."

Us Weekly reported that "Our Brand Is Crisis," scheduled to hit theaters in 2016, is based on a 2005 documentary of the same name that examines the 2002 presidential election in Bolivia. The magazine said it also stars Scoot McNairy, Anthony Mackie and Ann Dowd.

In August, Bullock was listed as Hollywood's highest paid actress, according to Forbes annual survey, which listed her as making $51 million over latest 12-month reporting period. She had been nominated for an Academy Award for the space adventure "Gravity." She won the best actress Academy Award in 2010 for "The Blind Side."

"Movies based on original ideas, as opposed to comic books or young adult novels, are rare these days in Hollywood," wrote Forbes' Dorothy Pomerantz about rare success of "Gravity." "Movies based on original ideas that cost $100 million to produce and feature one actress for the majority of the screen time are even rarer but director Alfonso Cuaron and Warner Bros. had a huge hit with 'Gravity.'

"Much of that success can be chalked up to Sandra Bullock's gripping performance as Ryan Stone. Not only did the film win seven Oscars but it also helped Bullock become this year's highest-paid actress," Pomerantz wrote.
