A woman from the San Francisco area facing murder charges posted $35 million in bail with help from family members, friends, and business associates with Chinese ties.

Tiffany Li, 31, is accused of directing her boyfriend and another man to kill the father of two of her children, Keith Green, 27, last year because she feared losing custody of the children to Green, The Associated Press reported.

Li was arrested May 11 and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The two men were also arrested and remain in jail without bail.

Li’s mother and friends raised more than $4 million in cash and put up about $60 million in property to cover Li's $35 million bail, the AP said. (California requires the property be worth twice as much as cash for bail purposes.) Li’s mother owned a successful construction business in China and is estimated to be worth $100 to $150 million.

The bail is the highest ever required in San Mateo County’s history.

Li is expected to be released from jail Thursday but will have to surrender her passport, wear an ankle monitor, and remain under house arrest. Her children are currently sharing time between her mother and Green’s mother, People reported.

If Li does leave the jurisdiction or violate the conditions of her bail, the cash and property will be forfeited to the county, the AP reported.

Social media users were shocked someone could cover $35 million bail.

"San Francisco woman raises 35 million dollars bail to get released. I guess her friends believe in her, heck I'd still be in jail for $2000 for a speeding ticket. I gotta upgrade," one man wrote on Facebook.

Many others could only say, "Wow."
