Former baseball player Sammy Sosa smacked 609 home runs during an 18-year big-league career. Now, according to social media, he wants to suck your blood – as in what vampires do.

A photo of the ex-slugger with Panamanian TV personality Nairobi Dacosta recently appeared on the Internet, and sites like FoxSports.com, and the overwhelming online reaction is that he could pass for Count Dracula.

"Hey, Vampire Sammy Sosa," tweeted user Ivan Rosario.

The idea of Sosa as an undead creature of the night has created a buzz. Sosa is seen in the photo with pale skin and a widow's peak. His thick black hair is slicked back, and he's wearing an expertly tailored suit with a blood red tie.

Yahoo! Sports Jeff Passan posted the picture with the caption: "Breaking: Sammy Sosa guest starring on True Blood this week."

A few truths about vampires dispute the notion of Sosa being a vampire for any extended period. He spent a large portion of his playing career at Wrigley Field, home of the Cubs and day baseball. Also, vampires aren't supposed to show up in photographs in the first place.

It didn't stop Internet posters from having some fun.

"I wanna be the Sammy Sosa vampire for Halloween," tweeted user Stan Croussett.

Sosa hit 243 home runs during a four-year period from 1998-2001, though he's been linked to the use of performance-enhancing drugs. In 2003, he was ejected from a game for using a corked bat, though he claimed he mistakenly grabbed a batting practice bat, according to Sports Illustrated, and he also once missed a game in 2004 after violent sneezes gave him back spasms, reported USAToday.

He retired after the 2007 season, and has stayed largely out of the spotlight, though maybe he's just saying out of the sunlight.
