Ruth Bader Ginsburg admitted this week that she was not "100 percent sober" when she appeared to doze off during President Barack Obama's State of the Union address on Jan. 20.

Speaking to an audience at George Washington University Thursday, the 81-year-old U.S. Supreme Court Justice confessed to having a little wine before the event, according to The Blaze.

"The audience for the most part is awake, because they're bobbing up and down, and we sit there, stone-faced, sober judges," the left-leaning jurist said. "But we're not, at least I wasn't, 100 percent sober."

"Because before we went to the State of the Union, Justice Kennedy brought in . . . it was an Opus something or other, very fine California wine, and I vowed this year, just sparkling water, stay away from the wine, but in the end, the dinner was so delicious, it needed wine," she continued. "So I got a call when I came home from one of my granddaughters and she said, 'Bubbe, you were sleeping at the State of the Union?'"

It was not the first time Ginsburg was caught sneaking in a catnap during a State of the Union address, according to Politico, which noted that she appeared to be sleeping at times during the 2010 speech as well.

Ginsburg dozing off was a big trender on Twitter during the State of the Union.
