Riley Cooper Back in Eagles Camp After N-word Clinic (Video)

By    |   Wednesday, 07 Aug 2013 07:30 AM

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper returned to training camp Tuesday, four days after the team ordered him to attend sensitivity counseling because he was captured on video using the N-word.

"It went well," Cooper told Sports Xchange of the counseling. "It took a few days. It's been a tough ride. I talked to [Eagles coach] Chip [Kelly] last night and this morning and he asked me, 'How do you feel? Are you ready to come back?' and I said 'Absolutely, I love being out there on the field, I love being out there with my guys.' It's going to be tough, no doubt it's going to be tough. I'm going to live with this every day for the rest of my life."

Cooper was also fined last week after the footage surfaced showing him yelling at an African-American security guard at a Kenny Chesney concert in June.

"I will jump that fence and fight every n— here, bro," Cooper can be heard saying.

The slur ruffled the feathers of some of Cooper's Eagles teammates and others, including quarterback Michael Vick's brother, Marcus Vick, who issued a public $1,000 bounty on Cooper's head on Twitter.

"Hey I'm putting a bounty on Riley's head. 1k to the first Free Safety or Strong safety that light his a— up! Wake him up please," the tweet read.

Cooper issued his own series of tweets last week apologizing for his use of the racist word.

Some of his teammates have since forgiven the wide receiver.

There are no further plans to discipline Cooper, according to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.

"I want to make this clear; the words Riley Cooper used were totally unacceptable," Lurie said in a statement. "His words may have been directed at one person but they hurt everyone. Riley has apologized to the team and community and has made a personal commitment to work hard to try and gain their trust and earn his position on the team."
