Rick Perry was pranked by Russian tricksters into talking about pig manure and how it could be mixed to make a power source. And don’t forget to add the home-brewed alcohol, they should have told him.

The U.S. Energy Secretary and former Texas governor thought he was talking to Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman through a translator, The Washington Post said on Tuesday, but he was actually talking to Russian pranksters Vladimir "Vovan" Kuznetsov and Alexei "Lexus" Stolyarov, who managed to get by Perry's gatekeepers to actually talk to Perry by phone.

The faux conversation was then posted on the Russian news website Vesti, reported the Post.

"Secretary Perry is the latest target of two Russian pranksters," Energy department spokeswoman Shaylyn Hynes told the Post. "These individuals are known for pranking high level officials and celebrities, particularly those who are supportive of an agenda that is not in line with their governments. In this case, the energy security of Ukraine."

Perry responded positively after he was told about a fuel created from a mix of home-brewed alcohol and manure created by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the Russian news site Pravda stated, per USA Today. Perry told the prankster that he wanted more information on the "scientific development," the Post reported.

The call, though, did stray into more serious U.S. energy policy, in which Perry defended President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the Paris accords, reported USA Today.

"Our position is that it's our record that should be looked at, not whether or not we have signed onto some international accord," Perry told the pranksters. "We see our record of progress relative to the global environment to be substantially defensible."

Perry also mentioned an upcoming August meeting where U.S. business executives will talk about extracting oil and natural gas in Ukraine, the Post reported.

"What we have seen in Texas is the great increase of productivity, particularly in shale gas because of hydraulic fracturing and the directional drilling," Perry told the pranksters.

Krasnov and Stolyarov are the same Russian pranksters who fooled entertainer Elton John in 2015, impersonating Russian President spokesman, Dmitry Peskov who supposedly acted as an interpreter for President Vladimir Putin, The Guardian noted.
