Darrelle Revis, who won a Super Bowl title with the New England Patriots last season, declined to lend any credibility to his ex-team in the "Deflategate" scandal that will cost quarterback Tom Brady four games in the next NFL season.

Revis, who recently signed a five-year, multi-million dollar contract to rejoin the New York Jets, told the New York Daily News that the Patriots' past history makes them suspect.

"Everybody's blowing (Deflatgate) up because it is Tom Brady," said Revis. "I understand that. But if (the NFL) feels he did the crime or he did something and they want to penalize them, then that's that. (The Patriots) have a history of doing stuff. You can't hide that.… Tom was there when they did that stuff in the past."

Revis said the NFL Players Association's complaining about league commissioner Roger Goodell's role in deciding on Brady's appeal is nonsense since the organization gave him the power to do just that in its last contract.

"He's the judge, jury and executioner," said Revis. "Everybody signed off  ... Why didn't we stand up when it was time to stand up? You can talk about it after the fact, but we all agreed to it."

Michael Felger of Comcast SportsNet said Revis is simply playing his role as a member of the New York Jets slamming their rivals the Patriots.

"Woody Johnson (Jets owner) didn't give him $40 million guaranteed to sit there and play nice," Felger wrote. "Woody wants to hear Jets rag on Patriots, it's just what Woody wants."

Revis' words drew the ire the New England Patriot fans on social media.
