The Ray Rice domestic violence incident from back in February has reignited after disturbing, new video was released Monday showing exactly what happened in the elevator at Atlantic City's Revel Hotel and Casino between the Baltimore Ravens running back and his then-fiancée.

TMZ obtained a clip shortly after the incident showing security camera footage from outside of the elevator, but the new recording shows the actual alleged assault. Janay Palmer, who is now Rice's wife, appears to lunge toward the football star, who then swings and knocks her out in one punch. She falls to the floor — hitting her head on a railing in the process — and is then dragged out of the elevator into a hallway by Rice.

Rice was arrested and indicted on third-degree aggravated assault charges in March but what really ruffled feathers was his slap-on-the-wrist punishment from the NFL — a measly two games.

To make matters worse, a hotel employee is now claiming that the NFL had seen the new, graphic footage when it levied the two-game suspension in July.

A reporter from ESPN also confirmed via Twitter that the NFL had previously seen the footage.

According to The Washington Post, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell recently apologized for the scant punishment, saying "I didn’t get it right" and promising tougher sanctions for domestic violence incidents involving players.

Ahead of the suspension, Rice said at a press conference that his conduct in Atlantic City was "totally inexcusable" but did not elaborate. Later, after beginning violence counseling, he said, "I made the biggest mistake of my life. I want to own it."

He and Palmer wed roughly a month after the incident.

It remains unclear why the new footage was released this week, however some pointed out that the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where the incident happened, is closing for good this week.

Warning: The graphic assault video below may be disturbing to watch.
