The people want Raven-Symone fired from "The View," according to a petition that's gaining steam online with nearly 130,000 signatures, but ABC is standing behind the former "Cosby Show" actress and said she's not going anywhere.

Symone has been a lightning rod for criticism for her outspoken and sometimes controversial statements on current event topics. The latest dustup came last week when Symone criticized an African-American teenager who was dragged out of her school desk by a white school resource officer in South Carolina, according to The Washington Post.

"The girl was told multiple times to get off the phone," Symone said on "The View." "There's no right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm — that's ridiculous — but at the same time, you gotta follow the rules in school. First of all, why are there cellphones in school? This shouldn't even be a problem to begin with, and he shouldn't have been acting like that on top of it."

A Change.org petition posted by Che Scott-Heron
, who said she is the daughter of late African-American entertainer Gil Scott-Heron, criticized Symone for not representing the views of other blacks.

"Raven-Symone has been spouting her ignorant and self-hating spiel on the view for long enough, from stating that she wouldn't hire somebody for having a ghetto name, to openly complaining about reverse racism," Scott-Heron wrote in the petition.

"The final straw was her comment about the recent viral video of the school police officer assaulting the student, where Raven-Symone said 'get off your phone in school then.' African Americans and black people around the diaspora need a voice representative of their views and not a voice representative of what white people want us to say," Scott-Heron continued.

On Saturday, though, ABC said in a statement that it was pleased with Symone's work on the show.

"We love Raven," ABC told Us Weekly in the statement in support of the former child star on "The Cosby Show." "She is confident, genuine, and opinionated, all qualities that make her a great addition to the panel."
