The Queen of England was reported to authorities for not wearing a seatbelt Wednesday on her way to the State Opening of Parliament.

West Yorkshire Police tweeted that it received a 999 emergency call about the monarch's offense. She was reportedly riding in the backseat of a chauffeured vehicle along with Prince Charles, according to the BBC.

Though not wearing a safety belt while traveling in a car is against the law in most cases in the U.K., and though one can be fined £500 ($636 USD), the Queen likely doesn't have anything to worry about.

"Because British courts are established on her behalf, the Queen cannot be a defendant in one — as it would mean she was prosecuting herself," the Daily Mail reported. "The Queen is also the only person in the U.K. who is permitted to drive without a licence and is not obliged to have registration plates on her vehicles."

According to the Royal Family website, "the Queen is careful to ensure that all her activities in her personal capacity are carried out in strict accordance with the law."

The police station poked fun at the incident a day later . . .

. . . and also reiterated the importance of not clogging the 999 line with non-emeregencies.

It's not the first time Queen Elizabeth II has been called out for not clicking her seatbelt. In 2010, the Daily Mail reported that she was spotted on her way to a polo match without a safety belt on. She was behind the wheel that time.
