President Obama? Waimanalo House From 'Magnum, P.I.' Has Secret Buyer

Rumors are swirling that President Obama may be the secret buyer of a Hawaii residence along Waimanalo Beach that was featured in the TV series “Magnum P.I.”

Monday’s $8.7 million transaction included confidentiality agreements. Fox News reported that the dealmakers have ties to Obama, including the buyer being a Delaware corporation set up by a longtime Obama supporter from Chicago.

Others listed on records include an executive assistant at a Chicago private equity firm run by another Obama supporter, and a former employee of Penny Pritzker, the real estate millionaire Obama tapped to be Secretary of Commerce in 2013, Fox said.

“People on the beach here think (the buyer is) Obama, and some people like me are thrilled at the prospect. It’s wonderful. My dog there can’t wait to play with Bo,” Lee Siegel, who owns a neighboring Waimanalo home, told KHON2. “I think the people who are kind of negatively concerned are worried that security is going to somehow impede or interfere with their life here in Waimanalo. It’s going to put Waimanalo on the map, that’s for sure.”

The beachfront property was built in 1933 and includes a tennis court, a bath house, and a boat house, KITV reported.

The home, dubbed "Robin's Nest" on the TV series, has fallen into disrepair.

Washington Post writer Philip Bump attempted to dampen the rumors in an article pointing out last year’s speculation that Obama was buying a home in South Carolina.

“Every unexplained real estate transaction in a place that the Obamas have ever heard of will cause similar speculation,” Bump wrote.

Twitter users commented about the rumors.
