Powerball is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Officials said on www.powerball.com that the next drawing will be held Wednesday.

On Aug. 7, three winning tickets were sold for a Powerball prize of $448 million, the fourth largest U.S. lottery jackpot ever – two in New Jersey and one in Minnesota.

A group of New Jersey employees who all put in $6 to purchase lottery tickets split the sum with another New Jersey resident, Mario Scarnici, and Paul White of Minnesota.
