Pizza Drone From Dominos – the DomiCopter – Really Delivers (Video)

Domino's Pizza is testing a delivery drone — the DomiCopter — that would drop off piping hot pizza right at customers' doorsteps.

Together with creative agency T + Biscuits and aircraft manufacturer Aerosight, the U.K. Domino's headquarters is trying out a prototype that can deliver two large pizzas in about 10 minutes within a four-mile radius.

"If anything, it went quicker than a pizza boy," T + Biscuits founder Tom Hatton told FOX News. "We were amazed at how easy it was going to be."

The preliminary model was piloted by a drone pilot on the ground, but future iterations would employ the use of GPS coordinates to find delivery locations.

No flying permits would be necessary to operate the drone because it wouldn’t travel more than 415 feet off the ground (or about 126 meters).

The pizza drone is already building a following on Twitter.

"We had a lot of fun putting the video together," a spokesman for Domino's U.K. told NBC News of the promo DomiCopter YouTube clip. "Domino's is an innovative company that is constantly looking at ways to deliver pizzas as quickly as possible. It could be great to think that one day pizzas could fly!"

The company said it plans to increase the load size of the DomiCopter so it would be able to handle a two-liter bottle of soda or another pizza.
