Old Dominion University’s Sigma Nu fraternity chapter has been suspended after posting sexually suggestive banners outside their house over the weekend welcoming incoming freshmen girls to campus.

Sigma Nu’s national office suspended all of the ODU chapter’s activities as the investigation into the offensive banners’ origins continues, according to Fox News. The banners in question read, “Rowdy and fun hope your baby girl is ready for a good time,” “Freshman daughter drop off” with an arrow pointing towards the house’s front door, and “Go ahead and drop off mom too.”

“The Fraternity condemns the derogatory and demeaning language used on the banners,” said Brad Beacham, the fraternity's executive director, in a statement, according to Fox News.

ODU, the Sigma Nu’s national organization, and the chapter’s student leaders have all condemned the offensive banner and vowed to hold those involved responsible, according to CNN.

“I am outraged about the offensive message directed toward women that was visible for a time on 43rd Street. Our students, campus community, and alumni have been offended. While we constantly educate students, faculty, and staff about sexual assault and sexual harassment, this incident confirms our collective efforts are still failing to register with some,” ODU’s president John R. Broderick said in a letter posted on Facebook, according to USA Today.

Broderick also added that at least one freshman girl he spoke with “thought seriously about going back home” after seeing the “offensive message,” according to Fox News.

Although initial reports seemed to indicate that no Sigma Nu fraternity members were involved in creating and erecting the banners on the house’s porch, Beacham said that additional information received later by the fraternity “indicates that some chapter members may have had involvement with the banners,” according to CNN.

“I said at my State of the University address that there is zero tolerance on this campus for sexual assault and sexual harassment,” Broderick wrote in his statement, according to Fox News. "Any student found to have violated the code of conduct will be subject to disciplinary action."
