Nicolle Wallace, the conservative cohost of "The View," gave a heartfelt goodbye to her fellow panelists on Thursday's show, heaping particular praise on Whoopi Goldberg.

"I never thought I would get this job in a million years. I was more surprised to get it than I would have been to not get it. I would have been more surprised if they'd kept me around because I am the original political nerd . . . I have loved being a part of this table. I have loved sitting in this chair — it was never mine but I'm lucky I got to occupy it for a little," Wallace said humbly, according to The Hollywood Reporter

"When I tested last season I said I don't know if I want to work there, I could never talk about my vagina on live television. Look how far I've come!" she added, jokingly.

She then spoke a few special words for her good friend Goldberg.

"I've fallen in love at first sight with three people: my husband, my son, and Whoopi Goldberg," she told the audience. She said further that Goldberg and fellow departing cohost Rosie Perez are "two of the loves of my life."

"I love you to death," she told cohost Raven-Symone, "and I think what you say about politics is so spot on because it's true and it's not just your truth it's true for a lot of people in your generation. So keep talking about politics. Don't let anyone tell you people don't want to hear it."

"You are such a star and I'm so sad I don't get to sit next to you," she told cohost Michelle Collins.

Wallace's imminent departure after just one season was first reported in mid-July, but ABC has yet to give an explanation for her ouster.

"My friend Nicolle is leaving our show. You have to ask ABC why," Goldberg said during Thursday's show, highlighting the mystery. "I can't tell you; I don't know."

Variety reported, however, that at one point ABC offered Wallace a more part-time gig as a rotating cohost, but she declined.

Wallace also maintains a contract with MSNBC, and frequently appears on "Morning Joe."
