Nick Offerman's Whisky Song Pays Homage His Favorite Libation (Video)

Nick Offerman has penned an ode to whisky with his new song "My Tales of Whisky," which shares the "Parks and Rec" star's love of the libation while admitting that his adoration for the drink does have its limitations.

Offerman created the song and accompanying video dedicated to whisky with help from the Diageo beverage company, according to Rolling Stone.

How much does Offerman love whisky, according to his song? These lyrics cited by Billboard magazine gives a clue.

"My first love is whisky in a jar / And the second this six-string guitar / But you can't play a song and drink whisky / Whether singing in that or in this key / it could all be so grand/ if I had a third hand/ but my doctors decreed that too risky," he sings.

"Of course there's no drinking allowed while working in the woodshop — 'So I put down jig and imbibe in a swig,' he croons — and just as it's a terrible idea to drink and drive, no one should ever drink and ride a horse," Rolling Stone's Jon Blistein wrote. "As Offerman gallantly rides his noble steed, flowers, he sings that spilling scotch on your crotch is a surefire recipe for disaster."

Diana Bruk, of Esquire magazine, applauded both the song and its video.

"[The video] is surprisingly good and almost aggressively Scottish — everyone's favorite awkward comedian strolls through the Highlands, rides a horse named 'Flowers,' does woodwork, plays a pipe, digs a grave (?), and engages in a variety of other stereotypically Scottish activities while playing guitar and cradling his one, true love: whisky."

The video itself on YouTube has generated more than 144,000 views since it was posted on Wednesday. Others shared the video online through social media.
