Musician Nick Cave's 15-year-old son died after falling off a cliff in July, and it was revealed Tuesday at a coroner's inquest in England that he was under the influence of the drug LSD when he fell.

According to The Associated Press, Coroner Veronica Hamilton-Deeley told the court that Arthur Cave died of multiple brain injuries, adding that she recorded it as an "accidental death."

Elsewhere during the court date, Nick Cave, 58, and his wife, Susie Bick, 46, left the courtroom when he graphic details of his death were read aloud.

"I was stuck in slow-moving traffic with my 11-year-old daughter as we were coming from a school open evening. Because it was so slow, I had time to observe what was going on around me," said witness Veronica Langford, according to People magazine.

"As we approached the top of the hill, I noticed a young man walking — staggering and zig-zagging on the grass. I was concerned and my initial reaction was that he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol . . . My daughter saw him get up and when I looked in my rear view mirror he had come down the bank and over the fence. I had a real sinking feeling at this point."

Langford and other concerned motorists rushed to the cliffs, only to find Arthur dead.

The court also heard testimony saying that Arthur took LSD with a friend after having researched it online the previous night.

"[The LSD] was taken by lads who were inquiring and experimenting and it’s what kids do all the time, and most of the time . . . they get away with it, except on sad occasions like this," said the coroner.
