Natalie Morales Mulling Options as 'Today' Feud Continues: Report

By    |   Tuesday, 11 Nov 2014 10:46 AM

Natalie Morales, a fixture on the "Today" show since 2006, is reportedly exploring her professional options elsewhere because of an ongoing feud with co-host Tamron Hall and NBC News president Deborah Turness.

Morales rose through the morning show ranks, going from national correspondent to third hour "Today" co-host, but then hit a glass ceiling, according to the New York Post's Page Six. She's reportedly been passed over multiple times for the top anchor spot, like when Ann Curry left and was replaced by Savannah Guthrie.

On top of that, the Post reported that Morales has not spoken to Turness in months and had a falling out with Hall last month.

"There's a lot of tension," a source told Page Six. "Natalie and Tamron are competitive, and there was a big blowup in October between the two. Deborah has an issue with Natalie and has sided with Tamron. There has been zero communication between Deborah and Natalie for a long period of time. It's the talk of NBC staff."

What's more, Morales didn't get any reassurances from "Today" executive producer Don Nash, the tabloid continued.

But Nash refuted the story in a statement issued Monday.

"This is total nonsense," he said, according to MediaBistro.com. "As the 'Today' show continues to gain momentum, it sounds like someone is trying to stir up trouble that doesn't exist. Natalie Morales is valued by everyone at the news division from the top down, and her future is with the 'Today' show and NBC News."

Morales worked as the national correspondent for "Today" from February 2006 to June 2011, according to her NBC News bio. She served as the network's national correspondent for all NBC News platforms including "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," "Dateline NBC," and MSNBC.

Before joining "Today," Morales served as an anchor and correspondent on MSNBC from March 2002 to February 2006 and has contributed to numerous breaking news stories while a member of NBC News.
