Muppets Reboot? ABC May Bring Beloved Puppets Back to Television

ABC is reportedly considering a reboot series featuring the Muppets, news that pumped up fans of the popular puppets even though few details are known.

ABC has asked for a comedy pilot featuring the Muppets, Deadline reported, and it’s being written by Bill Prady, co-creator of “The Big Bang Theory,” and Bob Kushell of  “Anger Management.”

“Details about the premise are being kept under wraps, but I hear the show would be set behind the scenes of a late-night talk show, with most signature Muppets, led by Kermit the Frog, on tap,” wrote Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva.

The Muppet Studios, owned by Disney, will co-produce with ABC Studios.

Fans on Twitter were excited about the reboot.

It won’t be the first time the Muppets take to the TV waves, of course: “Muppet Show” aired in Britain from 1967 to 1981, ABC had “Muppets Tonight” in 1996, and “The Jim Henson Hour” aired on NBC in 1989. Of course, the Muppets are frequently on the Big Screen, most recently “Muppets Most Wanted” in 2014.
