Forbes' 50 Most Valuable Teams 2017 list had an expensive ante: teams had to be valued at $1.75 billion or higher just to make the cut.

Of the 50 teams on the list, 29 are from the NFL — the most profitable sports league there is, according to Forbes — and "America's team" the Dallas Cowboys ranks No. 1 on the whole list, with the New York Yankees trailing close behind.

The ranking is put together every year based on Forbes' valuations of the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, F1, soccer and Nascar.

Here are the 10 most valuable sports teams in the world:

1. Dallas Cowboys — Owner and general manager Jerry Jones is a big reason why this team is considered the most valuable among so many other great franchises. When Jones came on the scene, the Cowboys were losing $1 million a month, said Forbes. Now the Cowboys bring in $300 million annually. Jones bought the team in 1989 with $150 million. Today the team is worth $4.2 billion.

2. New York Yankees — As of April, the Yankees were valued at $3.7 billion, according to ESPN. The franchise has topped all other MLB teams on Forbes' most valuable MLB list for the past two decades. This year, the closest baseball team in value is the Los Angeles Dodgers with a net worth of $2.75 billion.

3. Manchester United — Not only did Manchester United fare well on this year's most valuable teams list, but the club was named Europe's most valuable soccer team as well, despite having two mediocre seasons between 2014 and 2016, according to The Independent. Last year, Manchester United became "the first club to break the 3 billion euros mark for enterprise value."

4. Barcelona — This is a big month for Barcelona's soccer club, considering Forbes' ranking comes amid a huge sponsorship deal worth $62.9 million recently agreed to with Rakuten, Japan's largest e-commerce company, according to WWD.

5. Real Madrid — Real Madrid's value off the soccer field led to a top-five finish on this year's most valuable teams list, but their roster full of "huge potential and plenty of homegrown players" suggests that the club also has winning on its mind, noted Euro Sport.

6. New England Patriots — It's no shocker that this year's Super Bowl champs found themselves among the top 10.

7. New York Knicks — The Knicks haven't had a winning season in years and the franchise found itself in headlines for a lot of the wrong reasons this past season, but with a value over $3 billion there's a reason why the Knicks are still deemed the "Mecca" of basketball.

8. New York Giants — The Giants were also at the top of the rankings in September of 2016 when Forbes released its Most Valuable NFL Team list. They ranked No. 3 on that list.

9. San Francisco 49ers — The 49ers walked off the field with just two wins last season and a lot of drama surrounding the quarterback position, but the franchise still managed to bring in the big bucks. It's valued at $3 billion.

10. Los Angeles Lakers — The Lakers had their worst season in franchise history last year, but that was on the court, not in the bank. The Lakers have a net worth of $3 billion, which is an 11 percent increase from the year prior.
