Morgan Hill Landscape Worker Finds Body; Town Hopes It's Missing Teen

A landscape worker found a body under thick bushes in Morgan Hill, California, on Thursday, generating speculation that the missing the body of missing teenager Sierra LaMar had finally been found.

But according to special operations police Sgt. Carson Thomas, the body is “likely a middle-aged white man,” KSBW reported.

Another police officer said the remains had been hidden under shrubs and bushes for “quite a while."

The Morgan Hill Times reported that the body was found in a field located inside of a business park. A small tractor sat in the field, and authorities said it wasn’t clear if the tractor had anything to do with the body.

The immediate speculation that the body might belong to LaMar, who disappeared in 2012, shows the community’s hope that the teenager could still be found. ABC 7 reported that a center coordinating the searches for LaMar was open for three years before the efforts to find her were suspended.

Antolin Garcia-Torres is scheduled to stand trial for LaMar’s murder, ABC 7 said, although the girl’s body was never found.

Before the news was released that the body was that of a white male, many tweeted their hopes that LaMar had finally been found:
