Michelle Obama Dances With a Turnip in 'Turn Down for What' Parody

Michelle Obama's turnip dance posted on the White House's Vine site this week has already received more than 44,000 likes on the social media site, making the six-second clip a new viral hit.

Obama's turnip dance, a play on Lil Jon and DJ Snake's No. 1 song "Turn Down for What," was a musical response to a question posed to her on Twitter by Iman Crosson, an actor/director who often impersonates President Barack Obama in humorous digital short films, according to ABC News.

The exchange was part of the "Ask the First Lady" initiative in support of Obama's Let's Move! Campaign, which encourages healthy eating, home cooking, and gardening.

"Looking chic and casual in a black-and-white striped top with her hair pulled loosely back, FLOTUS held a ripe turnip in her hand and faced the camera," Us Weekly reported. "She then remixed the banger with her focus on healthy eating, asking 'Turnip For What?' and breaking it down to the song."

DJ Snake expressed his excitement on Twitter about the first lady bringing attention to his song.

Some online, though, were not fans of the first lady's turnip efforts.

Michelle Obama often uses pop culture outlets to promote her projects. Earlier this year, she took part in Jimmy Fallon's signature "Ew" sketch on "The Tonight Show," along with actor Will Ferrell.
