Michael Savage, the host of the nationally syndicated "The Savage Nation," will be inducted into the 2016 National Radio Hall of Fame in the category of Spoken Word On-Air Personality after winning a public vote.

The conservative firebrand will be inducted during a black-tie ceremony in Chicago on Nov. 17.

"To me, this is the capstone of my life," Savage told WND, "all my writing, all my speaking. This is it."

Other nominees in the category were Sean Hannity, Diane Rehm, and Mike Francesca.

“When you consider some of the recipients in the golden days of radio, Orson Wells, Walter Winchell and others, I’m in the category of giants,” he said.

Dubbed “the Godfather of Trumpmania" by Salon, Savage has presented a consistent message focused on borders, language and culture on his program, which is syndicated by Cumulus Media in more than 200 markets throughout the United States, WND noted.

Savage won the recognition through a public vote, according to a National Radio Hall of Fame news release.

Savage has been on the air for 22 years and regularly reaches 10 million listeners.

When he renewed his contract with Cumulus last year, he also announced plans to expand his format to cover such topics as health, science, religion, and culture, The New York Post reported.

"I’m not shying away from politics and I’m not running for office like others in the media," Savage said at the time, adding that he wants to "edutain the world."

Last month, media blogger Rich Lieberman noted Savage's success in the San Francisco market, where he dominates the 25-54 demographic with a "scorching performance" that has become "the de facto talk radio leader in the market."

Savage holds master's degrees in medical botany and medical anthropology and is the author of more than 30 books, including the bestsellers "Government Zero: No Border, No Language, No Culture," "Trickle Down Tyranny: Crushing Obama's Dream of the Socialist States of America," "Trickle Up Poverty: Stopping Obama's Attack on Our Borders, Economy, and Security," "The Savage Nation," "The Enemy Within," "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder," "Political Zoo," "Psychological Nudity: Savage Radio Stories," and "Banned in Britain."
