The Mega Millions' drawing on Tuesday produced no winners, allowing the jackpot to grow to more than $500 million for the next drawing on Friday, July 8.

Tuesday's numbers of 29, 46, 53, 64 and 73, plus the Mega Ball 10 did not prove lucky for anyone, boosting the jackpot to $508 million, or a cash payout of $357 million, the seventh largest jackpot in American history, reported the Mega Millions website.

Feeling lucky? Players will have a one in 259 million chance in capturing the hefty jackpot, according to CNN. The winner will have the choice of accepting the payout over a 29-year span or take all the cash now in one lump sum, noted CNN.

Mega Millions said seven people came close to winning the big jackpot, matching five of the numbers on their tickets, but failing to get the Mega Ball number. Those players – from California, Florida, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas – walked away with a $1 million prize.

In January, three players from California, Florida, and Tennessee split a $1.586 billion prize from the country's other multi-state lottery Powerball, which was the biggest jackpot ever offered.

Powerball's jackpot has crept up to $257 million with a cash payout of $179.7 million currently, according to the Powerball website.

If no one wins on Friday, the Mega Millions jackpot could approach its all-time record of $656 million in 2012 and second place $648 million in 2013. Three tickets shares the 2012 Mega Millions total while two winners claimed the 2012 jackpot, according to Mega Millions.

Mega Millions has not had a winner since Michael Burkett, of Washington, won $157 million on March 8. The lottery's only other winner this year came on Jan. 8 when Nancy Viola won $169 million.
