Mary-Louise Parker, best known for her role as pot-dealing mom Nancy Botwin on the Showtime series "Weeds," said recently she is "almost done acting" because of all the negativity that surrounds the culture of the profession.

"The world has gotten too mean for me, it's just too b—y. All the websites and all the blogging and all the people giving their opinion and their hatred… it's all so mean-spirited, it's all so critical," the 48-year-old told News Corp Australia Tuesday while promoting her upcoming film "R.I.P.D"

"I'm not really that into it anymore. I don't know how many more movies I wanna do. I wouldn't mind doing a TV show again, I'd like to do a couple more plays, but I'm almost done acting, I think."

Parker said she's too thin-skinned to make it much longer in the world of Hollywood, and also wants to shield her two kids, ages 6 and 9, from it.

"It's a mean culture — it's reality TV and it's watching people suffer and watching people humiliate themselves," she said. "It's little girls in pageants and housewives and plastic surgery and people in rehab. It just feels like a very ugly… it's like someone just lifted up a rock and that's all we're looking at."

Twitter users and commenters were disappointed by the news that Parker may soon leave acting.

"Don't quit!!! You are one of my favorites and I wish you were in more movies!!!" one person wrote on ABC News' story.

"Don't even bother reading blogs and tweets, just a bunch of people with nothing better to do than spew hatred and ridicules opinions," another posted.
