A Mar-a-Lago sinkhole made getting into and out of President Donald Trump's "Florida White House" a little more difficult on Monday. The hole doubled in size while work crews tried to figure out what was going on.

The sinkhole developed just west of the southern entrance near a new water main, according to the Palm Beach Daily News.

An excavator was called in after the discovery of the sinkhole, which started as a 4-by-4-foot hole and grew to about 10-by-6 foot hole due to the digging. West Palm Beach utility crews did some exploratory excavating Monday around the sinkhole.

Officials said they weren't sure if traffic would be affected moving in or out of Mar-a-Lago, but asked that drivers use caution.

The Washington Post said a West Palm Beach traffic alert stated that utilities distribution crews secured the area while it did its exploratory excavation Monday.

Trump has used his Mar-a-Lago club as his weekend getaway from the White House and has hosted foreign dignitaries there, from Chinese President Xi Jinping in April and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in February, noted Voice of America.

Trump has been criticized for the amount of time he has spent at the resort since taking office, according to The Hill. By April, Trump had spent seven of his first 13 weekends at the resort.
