The Ad Council's "Love Has No Labels" campaign video using x-ray images to promote "universal love" has become an Internet sensation, garnering 7.4 million views on YouTube since it was posted on Tuesday.

The video (below) was made on Valentine's Day in Santa Monica, California, US Weekly reported. A crowd watched as x-ray skeleton images of two people appeared to be kissing and embracing each other. The two people stepped from behind the screen to reveal that they are both women with a message stating: "Love has non gender."

The theme was repeated for an interracial couple, a couple with disabilities and an elderly couple. At one point, a man wearing traditional Jewish clothing and another of Muslim faith shake hands.

"We are neighbors and best friends," one of the men said in the video, with the message "Love has no religion," according to Us Weekly.

"I think what we have here is one of those moments in time where we have a great idea," Ad Council president and chief executive Lisa Sherman told Adweek. "There's a huge heart in the culture right now for these causes. You have an incredible piece of creative, and you tie that in with the 50th anniversary of Selma, and the stars are completely aligned."

Sherman was referring to the anniversary of historic Civil Rights-era march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, in 1965 that eventually became supported across racial and religious lines and led to the passage of the Voting Rights Act.

Sherman told The Hollywood Reporter the video was part of a year-long "Love Has No Labels" campaign. The campaign's nonprofit partners include the Anti-Defamation League and Human Rights Campaign.

"We decided to take this on because we felt it was very important to encourage people, all Americans, to examine their unconscious biases," said Sherman. "As much progress as we've made as a country, we absolutely still have more work to do."

The Ad Council is collaboration of advertising, media and business companies to produce public service advertising. The council was first created in 1941 with help sell war bonds for World War II.
