Just a day after his gruesome leg break made national news, Louisville sophomore guard Kevin Ware was up and about on crutches and tweeting up a storm.

Ware's right lower leg snapped in horrific fashion after he landed awkwardly while trying to block a 3-point shot during Sunday's Elite Eight game against Duke in Indianapolis. The open wound and protruding bone shocked viewers and brought most of Ware's teammates to tears.

"I jumped and my leg felt kind of funny," Ware told ESPN. "When Coach [Rick] P[itino] tried to help me up, he gave me a funny kind of look. I'm looking at him and then I look down and I see my bone sticking out. It wasn't a hurt feeling. I just went into shock. In the moment, you don't know what's wrong with you. You're just looking, thinking, 'How did this happen?' I never watched the replay. I never want to."

As his teammates looked on horrified, Ware urged them to win the game.

"Don't worry about me. I'll be OK," he reportedly told them before being led away on a stretcher. "You guys go win this thing."

The Cardinals advanced to the Final Four after beating Duke 85-63.

Meanwhile, Ware underwent a two-hour surgery Sunday night where doctors inserted a steel rod into his tibia. He was up on crutches the next day and had tweeted his thanks to his supporters.

Ware returned to the Louisville campus Tuesday and hopes to join his team in Atlanta for the Final Four later this week, but it wasn’t clear whether his doctors would sign off on it.

Nevertheless, Ware is confident he'll return to the court.
