Lonzo Ball unveiled his own signature basketball sneaker costing nearly $500 – after the NBA star-to-be was snubbed by major shoe companies Nike, Adidas and Under Armour – thanks to his father.

Now the NBA-bound point guard has a more expensive shoe than pro basketball players like LeBron James and Stephen Curry, according to Fox Sports.

Ball, who played at UCLA last season, has another five months before he can play in an official NBA game – but first he has to be drafted by a team on June 22.

Big Baller Brand, the company ran by Lonzo’s father LaVar Ball, unveiled the $495 “ZO2 Prime” sneaker on Thursday, reported The Associated Press.

It’s being described as “meticulously developed at every stage by Lonzo Ball,” but is already drawing close comparisons to Kobe Bryant’s signature shoes, noted Fox Sports.

The shoe has its own signature “BBB” logo toward the back.

LaVar Ball had tried making a deal with the “big three” shoemakers that involved all three of his sons (one in high school, one starting college) and a licensing agreement for up to $1 billion, reported Sporting News.

“Never in the history of modern-day shoe endorsements have the big companies all stepped away from a potential top pick nearly two months before the NBA draft,” said ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

After those three companies turned away from the deal, LaVar Ball said he planned to deliver on a co-branding deal and was looking at smaller companies, such as Peak, Li-Ning, and Anta.

“We’re not going to sign with a company and then wait around for five or six years for a shoe like Paul George had to wait for Nike,” said LaVar Ball, according to ESPN.

“BBB is aiming for Lonzo’s signature sneaker to tap into a new market – above the athletic performance kicks from the likes of Nike, Jordan, Adidas and Under Armour, but below the high-end designer shoes of Gucci, Prada or Louis Vuitton,” according to Slam Online.

“There is also a limited ZO2 WET Autographs edition, which will come in a key-locked glass box with a floor mirror, LED lights and an autograph from the Chino Hills prodigy himself, It will cost $995.”

The shoe is billed as available for pre-order on the BBB website but won’t actually be shipped until Nov. 24. And forget about refunds and exchanges, noted the AP.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the shoe.
