At the Little Caesars Arena construction site in Detroit, a 46-year-old electrical worker died Monday after falling 75 feet from a catwalk.

EMS workers found the man in cardiac arrest after the fall, which was called in shortly after 8 a.m., and he was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to MLive.com.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the death, Detroit Deputy Fire Commissioner David Fornell said, Fox 2 reported.

Witnesses reportedly said the man may have jumped.

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 58 union business manager Michael Richard said the man was a member of the union and had been working on the arena site for the previous eight months.

“It’s a reminder of how extremely dangerous these jobs are,” Richard said, The Detroit News reported. “These are highly skilled and highly trained workers, (but) unfortunately unforeseen accidents can happen,” Detroit News reported.

Little Caesars Arena is a 21,000-seat arena that will host both the NHL Red Wings and NBA Pistons. It is supposed to open Sept. 12. The cost of the arena is projected to be $862.9 million, and is being shared by the teams and funded by tax subsidies from local municipalities.

“Our thoughts, condolences and prayers go out to the family, friends, and co-workers affected by this tragedy," said Doug Kuiper, vice president of corporate communications for Ilitch Holdings, the builder of the arena, The Detroit News reported.

“The safety and security of everyone on our job site remains our highest priority, and more information will be shared as it becomes available throughout the investigation,” Kuiper added.
