Lisa Durden was sacked as a professor at a New Jersey college after defending a black-only event during a stormy Fox News appearance on "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

Durden, an adjunct professor at Essex County College, appeared on Carlson’s show on June 6 and defended a Black Lives Matters' Memorial Day celebration which only blacks could attend, reported Newark’s Star-Ledger.

"Boo-hoo-hoo. You white people are angry because you couldn't use your white privilege card to get invited to the Black Lives Matter's all-black Memorial Day Celebration," Durden said in a mocking fashion to Carlson. "We want to celebrate today. We don't want anybody going against us today."

When asked if she thought it was fair for whites to attend other Black Lives Matters celebrations, she said, "They do all the time. When you look at Black Lives Matter marching, when you see Black Lives Matter coming together collectively … on different issues, you see people of all races," Darden said. "We do accept them. On this particular day, they said 'stay you're a**** out."

Essex County College President Anthony Munroe said the school had received numerous complaints about Durden's comments, even though she did not identify herself as representing the college, noted the Star-Ledger.

"As the new president, I think it is important for me to make clear and reaffirm the college's commitment, as a public institution, to maintaining a welcoming environment to all students, from a variety of races, lifestyles, abilities, socio-economic backgrounds, faiths and cultures,” said Munroe in a statement confirming that Durden was suspended with full pay for the remainder of the summer session after her appearance while it was investigated.

"In consideration of the college's mission, and the impact that this matter has had on the college's fulfillment of its mission, we cannot maintain an employment relationship with the adjunct. The college affirms its right to select employees who represent the institution appropriately and are aligned with our mission."

Durden told the Star-Ledger she has received support from other staff members and students since she left the college but compared her experience since the show with being a rape victim who is blamed for the crime.

"(Essex County College) should be a safe place for me," Durden told the newspaper.
