Left Shark: Lawyers for Katy Perry Circle 3-D Print Seller

Katy Perry's  lawyers are going after an Orlando man who created 3-D prints of the awkwardly dancing Left Shark phenom which became famous on social media during Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show.

Fernando Sosa was hoping to capitalize on the popularity of what has become known as Left Shark, the costumed character who repeatedly danced out of step with Perry during her halftime performance, reported CNN. The clumsy choreography became the talk online and on talk shows.

Sosa, who makes a living creating 3-D prints and selling them online, quickly pumped out one of Left Shark and posted it for sale for $24.99. But on Wednesday, the law offices of Greenberg Traurig representing Perry – and Left Shark – hit Sosa with a cease-and-desist letter demanding that he turn over any of the products he had in his possession.

"Our client (Perry) recently has learned that you have been involved in the manufacture, sale, marketing and distribution of merchandise featuring a shark sculpture which embodies and uses the (Super Bowl halftime show), and that you have displayed this product on your website, in connection with such sale and distribution," the letter read.

Sosa, whose figurines usually feature political figures, told Time magazine that he was surprised by the letter.

"It looks like dictators and world leaders like Putin and Kim Jong Un or Chris Christie are much easier to deal with," said Sosa.
