Kevin Costner joined former stars and fans of one of his biggest hits, "Field of Dreams," in Dyersville, Iowa, Saturday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic film back where it was shot.

The celebration included a celebrity baseball game between Costner's team, the Kinsellas, and one led by his "Field of Dreams" costar Timothy Busfield, the Disbelievers, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier. NBC sports anchor Bob Costas told the newspaper that the film continues to have a special meaning for people.

"Look over your shoulder at all of the fathers and sons and daughters playing catch," Costas said during a Saturday interview with Costner and Busfield. "They have their own backyards or a park across the street. It means something different to play catch here."

On Friday, Costner took the field to play catch with his own sons, 7-year-old Cayden and 5-year-old Hayes.

"There's a magic to this field that wasn't there when we were shooting," Busfield told the Courier. "It was just a film location. What has happened is it's become a place that even I'm affected by . . . you can feel the film out there."

The Associated Press reported that about 11,000 people showed up for the weekend celebration in northeast Iowa in honor of the 1989 movie where an Iowa farmer, played by Costner, built a baseball field in his cornfield, to the chagrin of everyone around him.

Costner told the Des Moines Register that the movie's father-and-son theme has continued to touch families over the years, particularly on Father's Day weekend.

"[The movie deals] with that biblical thing of men and their sons and maybe not getting along," the Oscar-winning actor said. "I think women watch how beautifully orchestrated this movie was and they actually could turn to their husbands that maybe have never made peace with their father, or turned to their husbands who haven't made peace with their own sons, and say, 'You need to do something about this. You don't want to go through life and wish you had played catch.'"
