The city of Keller, Texas, wants to find an anonymous tunnel artist who's been painting animal figures in the Bear Creek Parkway tunnel and ask the mystery painter to turn the paintings into a mural.

The artist so far has painted a deer, an armadillo, a bird, and a turtle.

A post on the city of Keller’s Facebook page encouraged the anonymous artist to reach out to officials if he or she is interested in adding to what they've started.

“Two in one week? Our Mystery Artist is on a roll,” the post said. “P.S. We’d still like to meet you to discuss options for prepping the wall better etc. for your work. We’re not sure who is more excited: the Parks folks or the Public Arts Board.”

The city, which is located in North Texas, posted pictures of the four artworks on its Facebook page.

“Parks Manager Gary Davis says he doesn’t have the heart to paint over it, so the doe gets to stay,” the city said on Facebook after the first painting appeared.

City officials say this is a unique situation, as this anonymous artist is actually getting support from authorities as opposed to them wanting the paintings covered or removed.

“Just as a police officer has discretion in giving a speeder a ticket or not ... the city is doing the same in this case,” Keller officials said, Dallas News reported. “This is the first time in the city’s history the Parks department has decided not to cover an artist’s work, and members of both the Parks and Public Arts boards have expressed support for additional pieces by this artist in the tunnel, further clarifying this situation as a unique one.”

Some people, though, hope the anonymous tunnel artist remains a mystery.
