Katy Perry's Hillary Clinton Campaign Theme Song Already Playing?

By    |   Monday, 23 Jun 2014 01:06 PM

Pop star Katy Perry met Hillary Clinton on Friday and offered to write her a campaign theme should she run for president in 2016.

Perry posted a picture of her and Clinton to her Instagram and Twitter profiles simultaneously, writing "I told @HillaryClinton that I would write her a 'theme' song if she needs it."

Clinton responded on Sunday with a Twitter post that referenced the name of her new book, "Hard Choices," that debuted June 10, and Perry's smash hit, "Roar," that was nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards in January.

As New York magazine's Vulture blog noted on Monday, the Ready for Hillary Super PAC released a promotional video of Clinton in March that used "Roar" as the soundtrack. So, in a sense, the pop singer and former First Lady have collaborated before.

Perry is no stranger to politics, having performed at President Obama's second inauguration festivities in January 2013 along with Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson, and Alicia Keys, among others.

The 29-year-old singer rose to fame in 2008 with her hit single "I Kissed a Girl." She is also known for "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," and "Firework."
