Josh Duggar Opts Out of Attending Music Festival With Jill and Jessa

Josh Duggar and his wife Anna opted out of attending the ALIVE Christian Music Festival in Ohio over the weekend in what would have been the "19 Kids & Counting" star's first public appearance since his child molestation scandal broke last month.

Although the family has opened up to the media about the scandal and has even attempted to maintain a new state of normalcy, Josh Duggar decided not to join his sisters Jessa and Jill at the Saturday festival, according to E! Online.

Jessa and Jill Duggar, along with husbands Ben Seewald and Derek Dillard, spoke at the ALIVE festival in their first public showing since appearing together on Fox News with Megyn Kelly earlier this month. The sisters, along with two other siblings and a babysitter, were reportedly fondled by their brother on a few occasions back in 2002 and 2003 while they slept.

Jessa Duggar received criticism after telling Kelly during the interview, “I'm not going to justify anything that he did or say it was ok, not permissible, but I do want to speak up in his defense against people who are calling him a child molester or a pedophile or a rapist . . . I'm like that is so overboard and a lie really, I mean people get mad at me for saying that but I can say this because I was one of the victims,” according to E! Online.

But at the ALIVE event, the sisters and their husbands spoke about their faith, their family, and their marriages. Jill Duggar also showed off her 2-month-old son, Israel.

Although the couples did not explicitly mention the scandal during their appearance, Jill said, “Hey we’re not a perfect family, we mess up. Imagine what life is like with a family with two or three kids and multiply that about 10 times over and that’s what you get,” according to Inquisitr.com.

People.com reported that many families attended the ALIVE festival to show their support for the Duggar family.

“Especially right now with everything they’re going through, we wanted to show our support, to support a family that’s been more positive than negative,” fan Sheri Thompson told People.com.
